Week Seven

In ACAD 103, I have learned more and more as each week went by. I remember just seven weeks ago as I was writing my first ever blog post, wondering what am I going to write about. As the weeks gone by, I looked forward to each week's blog post; it has been a great way to express myself and my thoughts throughout this course.  In my first post, I mentioned how I was nervous about my new journey here at Trinity, and I am happy to say some of those nerves have gone away. Being in ACAD 103 has set a platform for success and confidence in my writing. I am not saying I love writing papers, but I do not mind them as much as I did before.      During the first day of class, I could remember feeling overwhelmed with the thought of how many papers I will have to write, I even doubted myself. Over time, Mrs. Aggen has helped tremendously, and all her comments on my paper have paid off. I enjoyed getting up in front of the class to correct the sentences up at the board; it was a grea

Week Six

The dreaded disorder of type 2 diabetes runs on both sides of my family, and over the years I have gained knowledge and an understanding of type 2 diabetes and how to manage it through dieting. I am a carb eater, and I could probably live the rest of my life on just carbs; unfortunately, I have to be cautious when consuming carbs because I have a higher chance of becoming diabetic. For my last writing assignment, I have decided to research type 1 diabetes. Last October, my boyfriend was diagnosed as type 1 diabetic.  Although I have a good understanding of type 2, I want to be able to provide help and knowledge on this disorder as he continues with this new lifestyle. Without giving away too much, I will be sure to give enough information throughout my presentation, along with some sugar-free treats!      I look forward to having Monday off to take full advantage of working on my research paper and my presentation. I recently did a presentation for my Business Management cla

Week Five

I cannot believe there are only three more weeks until I complete this course, the time has gone by so fast! ACAD 103 was my first class at Trinity and I was unsure if I was going to make it. As I walked into my first class that Monday, I was overwhelmed with the thought of how many papers I would have to write; however, as each week passed, I became more confident and less overwhelmed. Throughout the course, I was not shy of asking Mrs. Aggen for examples of the grammar rules I was unsure of, especially hyphens. During class, I took advantage of the time I had, correcting a sentence up at the board; it was a great hands-on lesson.      When I complete a paper, I allow myself a few days for proofreading. During this time, I will go back to my notes and the Writers Reference of sentences I am unsure of. I will also space out the rest of the paper to focus on one sentence at a time to allow myself to read it out loud. I do not let myself to stress over it, because that is when

Week Four

For the past two weeks, I have been battling a cold that won't go away; it has been a real struggle to stay focused on my school work after a long day of work.  Along with fighting a cold, I started the Business Management program Thursday night.  For the next four weeks, I will be overwhelmed by the number of assignments. However, I know I will be able to get through it by taking it one day at a time. I just wish this cold would stop driving me insane!      Since I started this class, I no longer dread writing papers; I became more confident within each paper I wrote. I have taken Mrs. Aggen's advice of placing the errors I previously made into a separate folder. Between looking through my previous errors and looking through the Writers Reference, I have made fewer mistakes each week. The YouTube clips that are attached in this week's course have been another great learning tool to go over commas. I liked going over the commas that go in between interchangeable adje

Week Three

After reading this week’s chapter, I learned with motivation comes value.  The value in my motivation will be achieving good grades and improving on my writing skills. As an example, I will be determined to stay focused on practicing grammar. I will implement setting goals of decreasing my errors and learning from the mistakes I previously made. Being confident in my grammar will help with my daily work task of sending emails and completing school assignments. I feel it is essential to put goals in place to keep challenging myself while I continue to learn. Through this chapter, I also began realizing my dreams and how to stay positive. My first goal is to complete the Business Management program. Once I achieve my goal, I will be proud to say that I have a Bachelor’s degree. Having a Bachelor’s degree will open the door to many new opportunities; this will help me grow as an individual. I will stay positive to accomplish my dream!

WeekTwo

As I was reading this week's chapter, I started to look deeper into my personality. I began to realize more about myself than I knew, and the people I surround myself with. For instance, I noticed that I have more of a creator mindset than those who have a victim mindset. For years, I just thought I would over think situations, but it was just me wanting to get things accomplished while trying to figure the best option. As an example, it is my sister's wedding this Saturday, and she is concerned about it raining for photos. I simply told her to call her photographers about options of indoor places to take photos. Instead of her stressing out, I wanted to figure out all our options as a plan B.  As her sister, it is important is to relieve some stress for her big day.    I believe that everyone has a choice in life, and it is up to them to choose as they will. I know that all my choices in life may have a negative or positive outcome. This is why I find it necessary to thin

Week One

About three years ago, I enrolled at Fox College where I earned my associate's degree in Business Administration. Just like Trinity, the classes were accelerated. I was able to complete my associates just in eighteen months. It was not long before I began missing school, sounds crazy right? School made me feel like I had a purpose. Even though I missed school, I struggled with which school would best fit my busy lifestyle and goals.      I was turning twenty-nine, I knew I did not want to waste any more time figuring out my next accomplishment. With Trinity having the adult program, it made my decision a no-brainer. Trinity will allow me to still manage my job while going to classes at night. Although I am nervous, I know my goal will help me overcome these nerves. I will just have to keep my eye on the prize to get me through this next chapter of my life.
